Just a quick post of pics of some of my recent projects before we head off to ChuckECheese for my 13yr olds birthday today! Its amazing... 13yrs old... WOW! Where do the years go?!

Mystery CAL...Day 4...........

WooHoo.............. here we are ... finishing day for the CAL.... what will our fun project be?

At this point before working todays instructions... your project should look like this.

Finishing and assembly...........
Day 4
***IF you are using 2 colors, finish off main color. Begin new color in the same st you ended off the last color. Start this row in the new color.**
IF not changing color, continue on with out finishing off.* (Making pleats in this row)

R15 Ch1, sc in same sp, sc in the next 38 sts, skip 4 sts, sc in the next 2 sts, skip the next 4 sts, sc in the next 57 sts, skip the next 4 sts, sc in the next 2 sts, skip the next 4 sts, sc in the last 16 sts. Slst to the first sc to join. (115 sc)

R16 Ch2, dc in the same sp, dc in each sc around. Join with a slst to the first dc. Skipping the beg. ch2. (115 dc)

R17 Ch1, sc in same sp, sc in each st around. Slst to the first sc to join. Finish off and weave in ends. (115 sc)

Loop
R1 Find the center 4 sts right above the center pleats on back row, (where you join rounds). Attach yarn to the last row (top sc row) back loops right above the pleats, ch3, dc in next 3 sts, (all 4 dc should be directly centered above the center pleats).

R2 Turn, ch1, sc in same sp and next 3 sts. (4sc)

R3 Turn, ch3, dc in the next 3 sts. (4dc) Repeat R2 and R3, 2 times, Turn, ch3, dc in next st, ch4, dc in last 2 sts. (4dc and 1, ch4 sp)
Turn, ch1, sc in same sp and next dc, 5sc in the ch4 loop, sc in last 2 dc and finish off.
Sew button to the other side in the center, above the pleats on R16. (the dc row)

Straps~ Here you make 2 straps, 1 on the front and 1 on the back. It is the same sts as the Loop. Just center the straps in place on either side of the pleats.

R1 Attach yarn in desired location for the strap, ch3, dc in next 3 sts. (4 dc) (I went 12 sts to the left of the center pleats, attached my yarn and made my 1st. four sts here. Then when desired length of strap is achieved, attached to the corresponding # of sts on the right side of the pleats. So they are centered on either side of the pleats.)

R2 Turn, ch1, sc in same sp and next 3 sts. (4sc)

R3 Turn, ch3, dc in the next 3 sts. (4dc) Repeat R2 and R3, as many times as needed to get the desired length of strap. Finish off, leaving a tail long enough to sew the strap onto the other side of the pleats. Repeat on the opposite side.

And the next time you find everyone piling their own burdens on your shoulders and you feel you cant hold another one… due to your own life issues. BE THANKFUL you are trusted so confidently by others to hold their burdens for them… that you are the one they can come to because God knows and trusts you with their issues knowing they cant hold them and you can.

**NO more fpdc after today!!! YAY!**

R10-R14 Ch2, Fpdc around same st as joining, fpdc around each fpdc. Join with a slst to the first fpdc. Skipping the beg. ch2. (132 fpdc or 132 hdc if you aren't doing the fpdc)Enjoy!

Its always a good time of yr to be counting your blessings and thinking of others.
My blessings… are my family and friends! But God has also blessed me with a crafting talent that I LOVE to share with others… either in the finished gifts … or teaching.
We are all blessed with family and friends…. Homes and jobs…. and although some may not believe so…. We are ALL blessed with some sort of talent that we could share. Is it crafting? Is it cooking? How about organization? Singing? Writing? Maybe you love to take pictures. You might be one with a heart to sit and listen to someone when they need an ear.
Give it some thought…. Find your God given talent…. And Share it!!!! The rest of this week… share your talent with someone… or many someones!
Sew some buttons on that little girls coat that lives next door.. you could even make her a little sun bonnet and decorate her old flip flops to make them new again.
The friend that you know is dealing with a sick loved one… Cook them a few meals that can be frozen and heated up with ease.
That co-worker that is really having trouble at work… and you know they are edge of getting in trouble with their boss … due to not getting work done on time… lend your organizing skills and help them get it all caught up before its too late.
Your niece is getting married… and her budget is so very small…. Offer to do the singing for free… your wedding gift to her.
Your spouse if having trouble writing report at work…. Help them. You don’t have to do it for them… but be there. Its frustrating to write when you cant find the words.
You like to take pictures.. go to your neighbors and offer to them to take pictures of their family for gift giving or family memories of their own.....…. Free
You have a great ear? Go down the local mission… sit and visit with folks… just listen to them… they don’t always want answers… they just need to know someone is listening and cares.

This is what you should have at this point before starting today's instructions.

Front Post st tut click here
If you don't want to do the fpdc, you can do a hdc, follow the instructions, same for both sts. Do not do both fpdc and hdc, do 1 or the other. Make sure your hdc is about 1/2" tall, about a centimeter.

Day 2

R5 Ch2, (does not count as a st now and through out, just brings you up to stitch level) Fpdc around same st as joining, fpdc around each st around. Join with a slst to the first fpdc. Skipping the beg. ch2. (132 fpdc)
**If you don't want to do the fpdc, you can do a hdc, however, the fpdc gives the finished piece the sturdiness and stability it needs as well as it looks really, really, really good** (132 hdc if you aren't doing the fpdc)

R6-R9 Ch2, Fpdc around same st as joining, fpdc around each fpdc. Join with a slst to the first fpdc. Skipping the beg. ch2. (132 fpdc or 132 hdc if you aren't doing the fpdc)

R2 Ch3, dc in same st, 2dc in the next 6 sts, dc in the next 45 chs, 2dc in the next 7 sts, dc in the remaining 45 sts. Join with a slst to the first dc. (118dc)

I made this for a little girl in Michael's class. After I had made his dragon... he wanted me to make one for his friend. Said she LOVED dragons and would be so happy to have one. So .... here she is.......... the little purple PipeFoxDragon with her butterfly pin.
Can't wait to hear if she likes it. Michael took it to her today. :)

Just Stay .....

A nurse took the tired, anxious serviceman to the bedside.
'Your son is here,' she said to the old man. She had to repeat the words several times before the patients eyes opened.
Heavily sedated because of the pain of his heart attack, he dimly saw the young uniformed Marine standing outside the oxygen tent. He reached out his hand. The Marine wrapped his toughened fingers around the old man's limp ones, squeezing a message of love and encouragement.
The nurse brought a chair so that the Marine could sit beside the bed. All through the night the young Marine sat there in the poorly lighted ward, holding the old man's hand and offering him words of love and strength. Occasionally, the nurse suggested that the Marine move away and rest awhile. He refused.
Whenever the nurse came into the ward, the Marine was oblivious of her and of the night noises of the hospital - the clanking of the oxygen tank, the laughter of the night staff members exchanging greetings, the cries and moans of the other patients.
Now and then she heard him say a few gentle words. The dying man said nothing, only held tightly to his son all through the night.....Along towards dawn, the old man died. The Marine released the now lifeless hand he had been holding and went to tell the nurse. While she did what she had to do, he waited.
Finally, she returned. She started to offer words of sympathy, but the Marine interrupted her.'Who was that man?' he asked.
The nurse was startled, 'He was your father,' she answered .
'No, he wasn't,' the Marine replied. 'I never saw him before in my life.''Then why didn't you say something when I took you to him?''I knew right away there had been a mistake,
But I also knew he needed his son, and his Son just wasn't here.
When I realized that he was too sick to tell Whether or not I was his son, Knowing how much he needed me, I stayed

Take out your emotional trash...........

Do you empty your emotional trash can every evening ... or do you let it build up until it gets so heavy and sour that you have an emotional breakdown?
Satan loves it when you let things build up. Every day that you let your emotional trash can fill are days that satan is collecting it all to use against you. You eventually cant take it anymore.. the trash can is full.. there isnt any room for one more thing to fit... it becomes too heavy to carry... you explode.. have a breakdown... lose your temper.... lose control / focus.
Your emotional trash can is there for a reason...... to throw away things of satan...... anger... envy... shame..... regret... resentment... and so on. As humans we use this trash can everyday! Days of self pity... we don't like the way we look. Days of worry and doubt.... bills are do and we worry if there will be enough money to pay them. Days of thanklessness.... we whine about what we don't have instead of being grateful for all we DO have.... etc.
Okay... so you've had these things and more go on through your day............ you've tossed them in your emotional trash can all day long.... your day has come to a close... you're winding down... getting ready for bed... put the cat out... shut off all the tv's and lights... lock the door... and then what.......... lay in bed and wallow in the trash.... ? or maybe you just go straight to sleep just stuffing the trash down deep. Bad idea! Take out that trash... get it out of your house.. out of your head.. out of your heart You need to empty the trash can every evening. Thats where you give it all to God. He wants to much for your to unload your day on Him... good and bad. This does two things.... clears your slate for a new day tomorrow and puts you spending time with your Father which you should be doing!
So now you sit thinking.... oh... I'm so tired at night.. I don't think about....... or 'I dont have time' or I'm not good at spending time with God'
Why do we make this so difficult? Why do we put some sort of made up pressure on ourselves and others?
Go get a very small trash can... a bucket.. maybe just a bag... put it by your bed. Now .. get a tablet and pen. Now... tonight... after letting out the cat.. shutting off the lights... locking the doors... sit for just a few minutes and simply write on a sheet of paper all the emotional trash you carried all day (boss was unfair at work... guy in traffic was rude... wife was cranky... husband is distant... kids were disobedient .... your hair didn't work the way you wanted... you put on weight and dont like the way you look... someone said something that hurt your feelings... someone hasnt spoke to you and hurt your feelings...and so on)... toss it in that trash can. Then tell God ... thank you for loving me.. thank you for tending to my needs.. and thank you for taking out my trash... I love you... Amen and good night. Hmmm ? Sounds pretty easy. No wallowing in your day... no self pity... no begging. Now be careful... you may find yourself spending a bit more time in prayer.... maybe praying for a friend or family member.... maybe praying over those issues you tossed.. as in asking for help in direction of how to handle them if they come up again... uhoh... you're spending time with God. Feels Good .......... doesn't it! Feels GREAT! What a relief... what a great night sleep you'll get... what a new outlook you'll have on the next day.
Once you throw that emotional trash in the (garbage) trash can... you cant dig them back out. They are Gods to deal with now. You move on to the next day.
God loves you so much.......... you're His child.
