Verse of the day...

3 I thank my God every time I remember you. 4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:3-6)

And we pray..............

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory. for ever and ever. Amen

Parents Night...........

Due to the situation with Ken............... We missed Parents Night.
You know... it was a bit of a bummer to miss it............... but we sure are praisin' God that we have a night with Ken instead!!!!
We're all settling in with the news ... and turning completely to God for guidance .... and trusting Him for healing!

In the mist of this... Patrick has hurt his left hand/wrist.... from an awesome tackle attempt. Had a doc appointment a couple days ago... couldn't make a positive call on a fracture or not... so we have another appointment set up for the 25th for another X-Ray. He's in a brace for now.. which is doing a good job keeping it stable and protected. *whew*

Well... off to get some things done... and tend to my family!
God Bless you all and thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your love and prayers.

Show & Share...................

Past & Present................

Forgot to share this back during Homecoming week..................
From my Candy Wrapping part of my crafts... I created this CandyBar Invitation for Patrick to ask K to the Homecoming dance.

This set is a regular Hershey bar wrapped as the invitation part ... the other two small ones are Hershey mini's wrapped as the return answers.
I placed the set in a cello bag tied shut with a pretty ribbon. Patrick gave it to K. She then (Thank Goodness) :) gave him back the "YES" bar later that day! *whew*
This makes it easy for the guys! And if by some sad chance they get the "NO" bar back... at least they can drown their sorrows in the chocolate. :)

Pinwheel Sweater I'm making for my mom for Christmas.................

Freebie Friday............

HOMEMADE PANCAKE MIX

10 c. all-purpose flour (3 lbs.)
2 1/2 c. instant nonfat dry milk
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. baking power
2 tbsp. salt

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Stir together to blend well. Put in a large airtight container. Label. Store in a cool, dry place. Use within 6 to 8 months. Makes about 13 cups of pancake mix. This mix works for both waffles and pancakes.

TO MAKE PANCAKES OR WAFFLES:

2 c. homemade pancake mix
1 c. water
1 egg
2 tbsp. oil (waffles - 3 tbsp.)

Beat smooth with a wire whisk or fork. This makes eight (4 inch) pancakes or four large waffles.

Here is our syrup recipe: (Better than "store bought".) 1 1/2 c. water 1 tsp. vanilla 1/4 c. pure maple syrup
Combine ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Boil gently until sugar is completely dissolved. Store in tightly covered container in the cupboard. Keeps indefinitely.

To make pecan waffles, sprinkle chopped pecans on the batter just before closing the waffle iron. For strawberry waffles, top hot waffle with fresh or thawed frozen strawberries and whipped cream.
Enjoy!!

Training Our Children...........

Children need to know right and wrong.... and the best place to learn it is at home. If they don't learn it there....they may end up without any moral and spiritual anchor.

Children also want their parents to care enough for them to be strict. Parents who refuse to discipline their children are actually sending a signal saying they don't care what happens to them. The Bible says... "He who loves him disciplines him promptly" (Proverbs 13:24)

The Bible also says to train our children to God's ways...."precept upon precept, line upon line... .. here a little, there a little" (Isaiah 28:10) In other words... when a child is about to become a teenager... we cant suddenly say ...... "I've ignored it so far......but now I'll cram religion and morals into my child" It must start the very moment he or she has any understanding. Does this mean its too late to start? NO! It just may be the perfect time to be a learning experience for you both!

But what we do is as important as what we say.... for children usually acquire their parents characteristics and habits. What are our children and grandchildren learning from us?
What they see is just as important if not more than what they hear from us!

The Book of Job...........

We recently had a family bible study on the book of Job.

The story of Job is something many of us can relate to in one way or another. While we might not have gone through the exact circumstances that Job did, in this world we all face struggles daily that we must learn to overcome. No matter what we have been through, we can all learn from the wisdom and humility found in the story of Job in the Bible. He was very prosperous, and had seven sons and three daughters. Constantly fearing that his sons may have sinned and "cursed God in their hearts", he constantly offered burnt offerings as a pardon for their sins. The "sons of God" and Satan (literally "the adversary") present themselves to God. God asks Satan his opinion on Job, apparently a truly pious man. Satan answers that Jobs pious only because God put a "wall around" him and "blessed" his favorite servant with prosperity. But if God touches "his possessions”, then Job would curse him. God gives Satan permission to test Job's righteousness.

As Job endures these calamities without reproaching Divine Providence, Satan solicits permission to afflict his person as well, and God says,” Behold, he is in your hand, but don't touch his life." Satan, therefore, smites him with dreadful boils, and Job, seated in ashes, scrapes his skin with broken pottery. His wife prompts him to "curse God, and die" but Job answers, "You speak alone of the foolish speaks. Moreover, shall we receive well from God and shall not receive evil?" That to me is just foolish talk, to think that he would simply curse God and die, he would never do such a thing, even though Job was incredibly wounded by the events of his life. He had spent his whole life loving and trusting God.

The Bible says that in this world we will face tribulation, but that trials strengthen our faith. I know sometimes I don't understand why things happen to me or the ones I love... neither did Job in his story, but I know everything happens for reason. God is in control of my life and yours, and I trust in his perfect plan for my life.
Questioning God can be easy, and trust is difficult.
When a loved one passes away or we lose something dear to us, questions flood into our mind, just like they did in the story of Job. Still the fact remains, we are not God.
Everything we go through is for a reason, whether to define us, strengthen us, or simply because we live in a fallen world.

Studying this book was LONG... hehehehe.. but very interesting! I hope the boys took something away from this story to use in their daily life. School can be a place where the boys can find struggles. Being picked on.......... by students of even teachers. I hope they can reflect back on this and find the lessons and hope they have in God! He is there to protect them... comfort them... and save them from all!
I know I certainly found an appreciation for what I have and a thankfulness in the trails in my life!

If you haven't.......... take the time to read the Book of Job! Its long.. but very encouraging!!!

God Bless you all
