Verse of the day...

~ “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” ~ Isaiah 41:10

Kindle 2 .......

Well............. this is a cool little gadget I have had my eye on since February when they came out with this version. I guess you could say its been on my little 'wish list' in my head.
I'm posting this in order to get some comments ... good or bad about it. They have come out with a new version (Kindle DX) its obviously more expensive.... and has a few upgrades... but I'm looking at the Kindle 2 a little more now because its come down in price!
click here to view the Kindle 2 on Amazon
Okay ... so here is a list of reasons I would like to have one. For me and my whole family.

* I could easily store a number of pdf patterns for quick and easy access.
* If I visit a craft store and see a yarn I must buy, I could easily look through my patterns on the Kindle to find a suitable project.
* I could download crochet/knitting/craft books and have them ALL with me anywhere I go instead of having to pick just a few to bring with me.
* The Kindle is very light-weight, and nowhere near as heavy as a bunch of books, even paperbacks!
* I could save lots of paper and printer ink by storing patterns on the Kindle and not printing them out.
* I could even make notes on my pdf patterns and in books I'm reading.
* Internet access and basic web browser that will let me read simple text-centric sites like Google and Wikipedia.
* I could access books, magazines, newspapers, and blogs on the Kindle.
* I could even use it as an MP3 player.
* It has a Built-in-Dictionary to have on hand for the boys homework. Especially Patrick with definition homework he has.
* It has over 350,000 books to choose from and download for my whole family. It might make reading more fun. I could have books for everyone with me at all times.
* Ken loves to read the news. He could have all kinds of NewsPapers to read anytime.

So.... with all that said................... is it worth the money? Please comments welcome!

Have a Wonderful Wednesday everyone!

The Ultimate Benefits Package...

"Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits." Psalm 103:2

I only spend a short period of time in the 'corporate world' I don't have stock options …I don't read or even understand the New York stock exchange results. I’m at a loss for understanding profit and loss sheets. I’m not savvy at climbing the ladder of success. Neither am I a member of prestigious society. Benefits, however, now that’s something I do know!

I have the ultimate job with the ultimate benefit package. Unfortunately, like many people, I forget and sometimes take for granted the benefits I am entitled to. My position required no previous experience or specific educational background. I took the position early in my career but did not truly understand the job until I began to really study my training manual. My boss is awesome to work for. In addition to the benefits package, He makes sure I have everything I need to complete what He has asked me to do. He makes Himself available to answer questions and hear my concerns 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What is my job you ask? Let me refer to my training manual … 2 Corinthians 5:20, "We are therefore Christ's ambassadors."

My boss inspired one of my co-workers, David, to write a beautiful poem outlining the benefits of being part of this work force. David did such an incredible job recording our benefits that the Boss included it in our training manual. Here is a portion:

Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits-who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

You can see by reading these few lines from Psalm 103 why I love my workplace and my Boss so much. There are more benefits listed in the training manual - God's Holy Word. I happen to know that my Boss is always looking for more workers. Our task is great and we could use all the help we can get. So if you are interested, give Him a call. You can reach Him through this network: P-R-A-Y-E-R. I know He would love to talk to with you. Oh, I did I mention He offers rewards, too? Just read the manual!

Lord, help to recognize today that You are my boss. You have agenda set just for me. Please be my day timer, my organizer. Help me never to forget the benefits I have because of the sacrifice of Your son Jesus. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Fabulous Friday..........

Good morning............... How is everyone this Fabulous Friday?
As you probably have noticed...... my blog has taken on a new look. Well... it was kind of a 'no choice' deal. I woke this morning early to find that all over my blog was posted "photobucket bandwidth exceeded" So... after research.. I discovered it was the background template I had been using......... so........ digging around the the html garble... I was able to toss the old one and replace it with this new look. Sometimes a fresh look is needed!
The boys are home from school today as it has been Parent / Teacher Conferences the last couple days...... so they have a day of fun being outside planned! Later for dinner we are going to create our own kabobs and cook them over out campfire in the back corner of our yard.
David took some time this morning to snuggle with the class Guinea Pig that he got to bring home and babysit for the weekend. The two of them look pretty comfy!!!!!

This is a little amigurumi I made for a swap. He's my own creation and I have to say.. I love him! The boys and I have decided his name to be 'Peek-a-boo'. He's a shy little fellow.. but once he warms up to you.... he makes a great little buddy for crafting... homework... or just relaxing with a movie. I sure do hope my swap buddy likes him! The boys are a bit sad to see him go........ so I guess I may need to make another Peek-a-boo friend for our house.

Well... off I go to get a refill on my coffee... start a load of laundry and tend to a few things around here before we do our big kabob dinner and off to the Homecoming football game at the High School.
you all have a Fantastic Friday... and a Wonderful Weekend!

Terrific Tuesday........

How is everyone today?
We have a brighter day today than yesterday! Yesterday was gloomy and we had on and off spits of rain most of the day. Patrick's first Football game was last night and I have to admit I was starting to be a bit bummed thinking we were going to sit in the rain watching our babies get soaked on the field as they slipped around trying to play. But as God is always good.... 30 minutes before game time.. the sun came out and seemed to shine only over the football field the entire game. It was chilly out ... we were wrapped in hoodies and blankets... but it was AWESOME to see the game under the sunshine. Patrick plays Quarterback for his team. Wow... he sure did great last night! (proud mommy) The whole team played very well.. and with alot of energy.
The Cougars Jr High team win their first Football Game!!!
28 - 14
Go Cougars!!!

Dishcloth made for a swap.

Dishcloths made for a Round Robin.
2 post cards I made to send along in the Dishcloth Round Robin.

UPDATE: this is what I have done so far on my trial sweater.
I'm staring to think this may end up fitting my youngest son. We'll see.
It will actually be a bonus if it fits David... because I will have a way to adjust the sizes for larger and smaller sweaters ... with him as my initial model. :)

What God wants... God gets!
Yesterday morning as I was getting the younger ones ready for school..... one of my older boys mentioned to me that some morning after dropping the boys off .. we should go to BurgerKing for breakfast and a little Bible study. I kind of knew he would have liked to go then....... but... I was in my "comfy clothes" so I said to him, "oh... that would be great ...but not this morning... I'm totally not dressed"
So... off I went ......dropped the boys off... and was heading home when Patrick called me on me on my cell telling me that he had forgotten his permit slip for getting out early his last hour of classes to get ready for the football game.... would I please bring it to him. Well... I told him of course I would.... I was on my way home and would get it and come back! The ride home I knew I would have to change from my "comfy clothes" into nicer clothes to go into the High School to drop off the slip. As I pulled in the drive... I thought..... "you know... I should see if my son still wants to do breakfast. We could go to this little tiny "Mom & Pop" place in the town where the schools are ....... eat and study there. I came in the house.... asked him... he said he would love to... so I changed clothes.. grabbed my bible... and Patricks permit slip and off we went!
We had a GREAT time. Breakfast was wonderful and Bible study was AWESOME!!!
After getting home... it hit me............... God got His way!!!
The reason I didn't want to do the breakfast thing before hand was because I was too lazy to change my clothes..... but God fixed me. I had to go home... change clothes and go back out.... so now I had no excuse!
So of course now I'm thinking my son and I need to do this more often. Maybe once a week or at least every other week. I also thought how I am going to start some " Home breakfast/Bible studies with the younger ones on the days they don't have school. While we eat.. we will read and discuss. We'll be getting completely fed!
God is so amazing!!!
Thank you Lord for keeping me focused when I want to be lazy!!!

Well... off to get some crocheting and knitting done.......... have a GREAT Day and don't be lazy! :)

Thankful Thursday....

Life really does look upside down and backwards to us sometimes. Especially when trouble hits. World Life says we should cry and moan and blame God when trouble hits.
Any fool can carry on like that. Most of them do. You can see hundreds of examples of it every day, at home, at work and on the television.
Christians trying to live a transformed life through God do it differently, according to Scripture : "Rejoice always... in everything give thanks..."

The crying and complaining that we do in ordinary world life only makes it worse. It doesn't help us, and the people around us don't appreciate it either.
Praising God during our problems has three amazing effects:

*It brings us into God's throne room for a personal consultation;
*It helps us in surprising ways; and
*It breaks the devil's grip on the situation.

Psalm 100:1-5
Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! 2 Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. 3 Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. 4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. 5 For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations. (Emphasis added.)
God's presence has a gate. You can enter freely with thanksgiving and you can enter His courts with praise.
Of course, you DON'T have to enter by the gate. You can stand stubbornly outside the walls, hoping to get God's attention by the volume of your complaining. That's ordinary world life.

You don't have to settle for ordinary world life. You can be transformed by praising God, especially in time of trouble, when you're really hurting.

But WHY does God want me to praise him in tough times?
It shows you TRUST Him. It shows that you BELIEVE His promises to carry you through.

1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

"Now That's the God I want to believe in!" Hopefully that's the God that you believe in, too. Because He's the only God there is.
When we praise God, we focus on His proven character and His faithfulness to His promises. We demonstrate that we put more trust in God's promises than in our problems. That is faith. And our Lord responds to faith.

Philippians 4: 6-7
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

In every difficult situation, like the temptation in Matthew 4
Jesus concentrated on the truth of Scripture and the character of His Father.
We must do likewise. Because we know that if we focus on the problems, we can make ourselves as miserable as we choose to be.
When the problems get REALLY bad, start praising and thanking God out loud. Let yourself hear the words. Let the child say, "This doesn't make sense!" Praise God, knowing that He won't allow you to be swept away by the problem.

Romans 8:28:
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
God says that "all things work together for good to those who love God..."
I totally believe that!!

Because many of our difficult situations are amplified by the devil. In addition to the real problem content, he comes along and makes it worse. The usual attacks serve to make us feel guilty or unworthy or like total losers. Fear and doubt are his big weapons. Most of the time, it's so subtle that we don't realize we're under attack. But praising God shatters the devil's grip on the situation.

James 4, verses 7-8 tell of this:
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
Praise lets you draw near to God. Praising God means that you DON'T buy into the fear and doubt generated by the devil. Praising God means that you believe in God's promises and character despite the lies of the enemy.
The enemy's nastiest weapons can't touch you anymore. And the enemy can't STAND to hear you praise God out loud. It eventually drives him right out of the room, covering his ears.

Lord, I praise You for Your faithfulness and love toward me. Thank You for volunteering to take charge of my problems in every difficult situation. Help me to walk in Your truth and help others to also be victorious, I pray, In Jesus Name .. Amen

Gooooooooood Morning..........

And God’s Blessings to you all!
We have a gloomy day here today...... cool... but not bad!
I got the boys up and off to school… so now I'm here with updates on whats going on around here. Things have been really busy around here! Fun but busy! Ken has been working hard lately! He's been putting time in at the client sites and of course he's been working from home... thats the luxury of having your own business! He landed another client this week ... I'm so proud of him! He sticks with it ... never giving up.... working hard to make the impression he needs for others to spread the word about him. His hard work is paying off!

I’ve been keeping busy crocheting and knitting. I have been getting myself caught up with swaps I signed up for and charity items I have committed to. But I also need to get myself focused on Christmas gifts! I started a graph'ghan some time back and really need to get back on it. I want to give that to my soon-to-be son-in-law. I have a purse made for my daughter.

Not sure yet what to make for the other kids... blankets maybe... or maybe hat and scarf sets..... hmmmmm?

I'm thinking I may just knit stockings for each of the grandbabies and fill them with goodies!

I started this toddler sweater yesterday as a trial project! If it comes out like I hope... I'll be making sweaters for my kids and grandkids for NEXT Christmas.

I took time off to get a manicure this week.… I needed some pampering!!! Hehehehe
Because of my wonderful Aunt.......... I didnt have to spend any money on yarn. I have plenty to keep me busy for quite some time.
The kids are all great!!! Michael is holding his own with the end of his cold. Patrick is staying busy with Pitching leasons and Football practice. David is always on the lookout for bugs.........hehehehe Grandbabies are fabulous!!! And aside from not spending much time with my hubby due to work… We’re wonderful!
Well… off to get some more crochet / knitting time in.......You all have a Terrific Tuesday!!!

Have you shared God with anyone lately?
Its really simple!!! Send someone a bouquet of flowers that you haven’t talked to in some time. Buy a little snack at the register and hand it to the sweet little child in line behind you as you leave. Put a quarter in the gum/toy machine or car ride at the store entrance for that little one just sitting there wishing they could get that little trinket or ride that ride.
Bring a coffee to your boss or secretary one morning as you go into work. Mow the neighbors yard the next time you mow your own. Wash your neighbors car next time you wash yours.
Those all seem pretty simple…. Don’t they?
Funny though… God does all those simple things for each and everyone one of us EVERYDAY. But he does all this after doing the most giving thing he could do. Giving His Only Son's life for us.
I’ve said this before… we make spending time with God or sharing God with others … much harder than it really is!!!
So today… Share God with one person… you may find it pretty rewarding.

Hugs … love and blessings!!!

9-11 We Remember...

Thoughts of the day that changed U.S. history forever. May they rest in peace!
Terror rode the planes,
as they flew through the sky
Innocents on board had no help,
were afraid they might die
As they flew toward eternity,
death was riding too
Many were scared,
They knew not what to do
Some clung to each other,
with their heads bowed in prayer
Others called loved ones,
to let them know they cared
The planes struck the twin towers,
Washington and a Pennsylvania field,
Destruction and death reigned supreme
in that disastrous scene
Heros were born that day,
families were torn apart
Such turmoil and grief,
filled our nations breaking hearts
We commemorate their kindred spirits
as seasons come and go
Ever mindful of what was lost,
as onward we proudly go
God Bless!!!

Praise Report..........

We have good news from the Doctors... Michael's blood test show his levels to be Good!
So we are lowering his prednizone 5 more ml. Thank you God for taking such good care of Michael ... through a bug bite... and a cold............ we are looking at positive movement to getting Michael off the prednizone and back in to remission!
As we move over the next few weeks of tapering off the medicine........ we are praying for continued healing so that we can celebrate with a NACHO NIGHT! Michael has been waiting for homemade Nachos for so long................ we are possibly 6 weeks away from him getting to sink his teeth into serious Nacho goodness.......... heheheeee
Thank you to everyone that has kept Michael in their thoughts and prayers!

Let God............

Humans are strange - most want to 'hang on' to everything, their old clothes, old notes, old acquaintances that might not have associated with them in decades , and everything that might put a stress on their lives. They just don't recognize the need to 'let go' and 'let God' rule their lives.

We humans want to be "in control" of our lives - never let go of any aspect. I've been told by other Christians that GOD gives us control of our lives. DOES HE?

Psalm 23:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd ; I shall not want.

Ezekiel 34:12 As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.

John 10:14 I am the good shepherd , and know my sheep, and am known of mine. 15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.

I believe that God gives us a control to a certain extent, that he provided us with GRACE through faith to accept salvation offered to us. Then, as Christians, He is our Shepherd and leads us through paths of righteousness, through the thick and thin, where, if we put our full trust in him, we are never hurt or burned. Just like God used an earthquake to loosen the prison doors for Paul and Silas, he will do it for you. And just as Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were delivered from the fiery furnace, with protection from the Son of God in the fire, he will deliver you from the same kind of hurt. We only have to trust him completely.

Psalm 18:30 As for God , his way [is] perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

Psalm 62:8 Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

Proverb 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

I Timothy 4:10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God , who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

Let us remember that God is the Alpha and Omega, the Author and the Finisher of our faith. We need to rely upon him for our every day spiritual walk as well as our earthly walk among men and unbelievers. When we show forth a Godly way of living, then we will be rewarded by God. He is a keeper of his blessed promises.

II Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

Start with something small........ let God handle it......... you will find such relief.. peace and knowledge that you will be anxious to give it ALL to Him!!! He will put you in places you need to be ... bless you with things that you otherwise didn't think would happen... and set a peace in your heart like you have never known before!

have a wonderfully God filled day!!!

Taking up a post just to do a little showing off................
here is a pair of socks I just made myself this week. I love this yarn!

These are something new and fun I have been doing for gifts! I call them Kitchen Britches.
These are simply made up of two granny square type dishcloths made from cotton yarn... folded and tacked together with ribbon.

This pair of Kitchen Britches was made for a dear lady over on the 'ville as part of a swap I put together for her. She collects cows ... so thought these would be fitting.

This pair of Kitchen Britches along with the one below is for another lovely lady over on the 'ville... collecting dishcloths for a friend of hers.

But the Lord...........

**"But the LORD is in His holy temple; the LORD still rules from heaven. He watches everyone closely, examining every person on earth." Psalm 11:4**

"But the Lord" is a powerful phrase. The word "but" is a conjunction and used in this sentence it means "contrary to." (can you tell I spent time helping one of my boys with English homework recently? hehehee... I sound all smart now. ) Contrary to what though? In the verses of Psalm 11, David proclaims how he trusts the Lord for his protection. He followed his proclamation with the details of how the wicked are preparing their weapons for attack against him. Then he belts out the transition statement of power: But the Lord........

Maybe you feel like King David. You have been surrounded by the Lord's protection in the past. You have marveled at His work in your life, however, in this present season of life you feel as if the enemy is stocking his armory against you. It seems Satan spends his days sharpening the arrows and stringing his bow.

Regardless of his current circumstances, David could be assured of two certainties: the Lord is in His Holy Temple and the Lord still rules from heaven. Oh, the peace this must have given King David. God is constant.

This statement of power can fill you and help you look at your life through a different set of eyes. In the midst of downsizing or divorce, buyouts or payoffs, layoffs or let downs, illness, disappointments and despair, we can count on the same two certainties as the great King David. We can put our faith in the certainty that the Lord is in His Holy Temple and the Lord still rules from heaven. Oh, the peace this can bring to us. Rest in the peace this statement of power offers and don't look back.

Spread His word..........

As Christians, we are commanded by God to go into all the world and spread the gospel!

**Mark 16:15 He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.**

One way to do this is to give your testimony about what God has done in your life. Just telling people your story may touch the heart of someone who thought that there was no hope for them, and help them to understand that there is hope in Jesus Christ. Even though it's hard to talk to people sometimes, we must remember that God is with us every step of the way, and will give us words to say when we start witnessing to people. Every day God opens windows of opportunity and gives us a chance to help someone, lets take advantage of these opportunities every chance we get.
